Lacking the time and resources internally to collect the money they are owed

Huttie’s large client base is diverse and consists of both domestic and commercial customers, and Huttie’s finance team could often spend up to three full days per month manually sending out payment reminders and phoning up customers who had unpaid invoices. Realising that it was both time-consuming and costly to manually do it themselves, and the negative impact the bad payers had on their cash flow, the finance team at Huttie decided to try Chaser’s automated accounts receivable software and saw immediate results. Automating their credit control process and sending weekly payment reminders to their customers freed up the majority of the time they had previously spent chasing unpaid invoices, and most of their outstanding invoices got paid using Chaser’s software. But, not all of them.
 
Huttie experienced that some of their customers were ignoring their emails, and that invoices got increasingly overdue. This negatively affected their cash flow and cash flow forecasting, and made it difficult to know which recurring customers they should keep an extra eye on in the future. As Huttie’s finance team did not have a dedicated credit controller, they struggled to find the time and resources to phone or to get in contact with the customers who would ignore their emails. They had previously used Money Claim and Thomas Higgins to send out solicitor letters which they paid for in advance, but realised that going straight from sending emails to legal letters did not give them the results they wanted, and they often had customers coming back saying that they would have paid if someone had rung them up.

Chaser Collections and Huttie Group: the perfect resolution to a frustrating problem

As Huttie was already using Chaser’s accounts receivable automation software, and had integrated it with their Xero cloud accounting system, the handover process to Chaser’s debt collection team was seamless. All previous communication between Huttie and their customers was stored in the Chaser software, as well as the invoice details and contact information. As a result, Chaser’s debt collectors had all the information they needed to successfully collect Huttie’s unpaid invoices, without having to go through a lengthy handover process.

Before escalating an invoice to Chaser Collections, all users are presented with an instant quote in the Chaser app. Consequently, Huttie was able to know exactly what the price would be for every invoice before escalating, and this combined with Chaser’s no-win, no-fee approach meant that they were not spending or wasting any money without seeing results. This was a cost-effective alternative to other debt collections agencies that they had used in the past where they had to pay the fee up front without knowing if it would pay off.

As a result, they would effectively operate the credit-control process, and they wouldn’t need to hire an in-house credit controller.
